David M. Waterbury

David Waterbury was born in Illinois, brought up in Corpus Christi TX, and has lived most of his adult life in Minneapolis MN with his wife, Ruth. They have two adult children and three grandchildren.

He graduated with a BA in economics from Yale. He is now retired after a 37 year career as a financial advisor with Dean Witter (now Morgan Stanley).

Charitable/advocacy interests evolved from college, church, and arts organizations, to include social equity and justice concerns with emphasis on lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender issues after their daughter came out as a lesbian. He chaired the second Governor’s Task Force on Gay & Lesbian Minnesotans, has served on the boards of GLSEN(Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network), the Headwater’s Foundation for Justice, PFLAG St Paul-Minneapolis, and Faith in America as well as taking an active role with many other LGBT and social justice activities. He is still active with college, church (past treasurer) and arts organizations as well.

He and Ruth share a passion for collecting wood art and travel.
