End Religion Based Bigotry - Faith In America - Full Equal Rights for Gay Lesbian Transgender Americans

Faith In America Media Campaign

In a broad swath across America – from Indianapolis, Indiana to Raleigh, N.C. – Faith In America has breached the wall of silence long associated with religion and equality for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people. With its ad campaign that challenges the injustice of religion-based bigotry, Faith In America is opening up channels of dialogue with religious fundamentalists who judge and even condemn gay men and women as unworthy of their respect and unworthy of God's love. The campaign continues with future ads in communities – large and small – across America.

Bringing down the wall...with a simple history lesson.

It's been said that religion-based bigotry is the mortar that binds the wall that blocks the way to full equality for gay, lesbian, bisexuals and transgender Americans.

A wall without mortar will not stand.

Faith In America, Inc. has embarked on a mission to eliminate the injustice of religion-based bigotry against gay, lesbian, bisexuals and transgender (GLBT) Americans. In the past, such efforts may have seemed futile.

We know they’re not.

While there's no quick and easy way to loosen the mortar that binds a masonry wall, it most certainly can be done – if only one brick at a time.

The ultimate goal of Faith In America, Inc. is to end legal and spiritual discrimination against GLBT people in America and to gain full and equal rights for those citizens – one community at a time.

So far, Faith In America, Inc. has taken its campaigns to Indianapolis, Ind., Baltimore, Md. Taylorsville, N.C., Hickory, N.C., Greensboro, N.C. (during the Southern Baptist Convention) and in the Chapel Hill and Raleigh communities in North Carolina.

The response to the ad campaigns in letters (click to view) to the editor and email correspondence has been encouraging. The ads are powerful and have created dialogue within each of these communities between various religious groups and individuals and organizations that support full equality for GLBT citizens.

Many of the responses have been supportive and the negative ones have generated positive discussion from others.

The ad campaign results thus far strongly indicate that America is ready for an honest and open discussion about the injustice of religion-based bigotry against GLBT citizens.

And remember, you can help us create this dialogue in other communities across the country. Please visit our "You Can Help" page to learn more.
